EP Mindset

Train the Body. Train the Mind. Build the Blueprint.

The Mindset Blueprint is the mental performance system at EP Athletics. Athletes practice how to reset after mistakes, respond under pressure, and build the habits behind consistent effort.

Six pillars. Practical tools. Coached in real moments.

Mindset You Can Practice

Confidence grows through preparation, repetition, and response.

A missed chance, difficult drill, or moment of frustration creates an opportunity to practice a purposeful response.

We coach athletes to recognize what they are feeling, refocus on what they can control, and take purposeful action. Those skills are reinforced through training, competition, and reflection.

All six pillars support every EP development phase.
We adapt the emphasis to the needs and readiness of each athlete.

The Six Pillars of EP Mindset

Reset

Recognize the moment, interrupt the old response, and bring your attention back to the next action.

In practice
After a mistake, breathe and use your cue word and gesture. Then bring your eyes forward.

Mistakes do not define you. Your response does.

Attitude

Notice the energy and perspective you bring. Practice choosing a useful response when training or competition gets difficult.

In practice
Check your attitude before a session and choose how you want to show up.

Your attitude is your advantage.

Identity Training

Define the athlete you are becoming and connect that identity to the choices you make today.

In practice
Use your Identity card to complete the statement “I am the athlete who…” Then back it with action.

Train for the athlete you are becoming.

Discipline & Habits

Build consistency through small, repeatable actions that support training, recovery, and daily life.

In practice
Choose a habit, track your follow-through, and review what helps you stay consistent.

Your habits build your blueprint.

Vision & Goal Setting

Give your work direction. Connect the athlete you want to become with specific actions you can take now.

In practice
Picture how you want to respond in competition. Then choose a clear training priority.

Play with a picture of the future.

Gratitude & Perspective

Recognize opportunity within the work. Reflect on progress and approach challenges with a broader perspective.

In practice
Finish with a win, a lesson, and something you appreciate about the opportunity to train.

“I get to,” not “I have to.”

Built Into Every Rep

Learn it. Practice it. Bring it to the game.

After a mistake
Use Reset, identify the next action, and reengage.

When frustration builds
Check your attitude, recognize what you can control, and choose your response.

Before competition
Revisit your Identity card, use a breathing cue, and picture purposeful execution.

After the work
Reflect on a win, a lesson, and the habit to carry into the next session.

Support in the Moment

Connect what you practice to how you compete.

When an EP trainer attends a game, support can include in-game feedback and mindset coaching during appropriate breaks.

We discuss what the athlete sees, how they feel, and what they can do next. We then help them use EP techniques to refocus before returning to play.

What we look for over time
We look for more purposeful responses after mistakes, greater awareness under pressure, consistent habits, and ownership of preparation.
